About Newton County Court Docket

Newton County court records are kept by more than one office. This guide helps readers begin with the court type, then find the appropriate clerk, court docket, or Mississippi Electronic Courts access path without treating every county matter as a Circuit Court record.

Why We Built This Site

Newton County has a split clerk structure, so the right record source depends on the case. Michael L. Butler, the Newton County Circuit Clerk, keeps Circuit Court civil and criminal filings, lower-court appeals, and the general court docket. Chrissie Buffington, the Chancery Clerk, keeps Chancery matters such as family, probate, estate, land, and equity cases. Justice Court and municipal clerks maintain their own records. For participating Circuit and Chancery cases, Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC) and its public PAMEC access layer may supply a read-only docket sheet; remote PAMEC access requires registration, while public electronic access at the clerk's office is free during regular hours, subject to court restrictions and copy charges. Neither route is a single index for every Newton County court.

What You Will Find Here

  • Docket guides: how criminal dockets and civil dockets differ by court and clerk in Newton County
  • Case lookups: how a case search can begin with a case number, PAMEC for a participating court, or the correct local clerk
  • Court dates and settings: how to use the court calendar as a starting point and verify a particular setting with the responsible court
  • Record requests: how court records, docket sheets, copies, and certified documents are routed to the custodian that holds them

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not a Mississippi court, clerk office, or state agency. Its limits are practical as well as legal:

  • We cannot issue an official docket sheet or retrieve a case file for a visitor
  • We cannot schedule, reschedule, reset, or confirm a hearing
  • We cannot seal, amend, remove, or otherwise change a court case
  • We cannot provide a certified copy of a docket, order, or other court document
  • We cannot interpret a case, order, or deadline as legal advice
  • We cannot promise that an address, fee, phone number, or setting remains current

Only the clerk or court holding the case can provide an official or certified docket sheet or court record. This site can explain the likely route, but the document must come from its actual custodian.

Search Partners

Some pages include search boxes provided by outside companies. Those providers operate and price their own services, and a paid enrollment reached through one may generate a referral fee for this site. We do not control their pricing, availability, or results. Official Newton County court information remains with the appropriate clerk, court, MEC, or PAMEC channel.
