Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, the ways it may be used or disclosed, and the practices that apply when this website is used. By continuing to use the site, you accept those practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or case number entered in a site search tool is sent to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies any result. We do not retain or log those search terms on our own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

If a visitor sends an email to the site operators, we keep the message in order to respond. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, our servers may receive routine technical information about that visit:

  • Page-view timestamps
  • The referring site, if one sent the visitor here
  • Pages viewed and the time spent on them
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser type and version
  • The device's assigned IP address

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device that help show aggregate use of the site, such as traffic to particular pages and points where visitors leave. Analytics providers process that aggregate activity. Browser settings can block cookies, although some site functions may then work differently.

What We Do With This Data

  • Operating and maintaining a responsive website
  • Routing search queries to the applicable partner service
  • Measuring which pages work well and which need improvement
  • Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
  • Delivering advertising that may be relevant to a visitor's interests

No Court-Record Data on File

This site does not host, maintain, compile, or sell a database of court dockets or personal case records. It provides general routing information for Newton County Circuit Court, Chancery Court, Justice Court, municipal clerks, and Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC) with its PAMEC public-access layer. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party records.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies power the search boxes displayed on some pages. Information entered there is governed by the provider's own privacy policy, retention practices, and sharing choices rather than this policy. We do not control those practices, so review the provider's policy before submitting a query.

Links to Other Websites

The site links to clerk pages, court portals, MEC or PAMEC resources, legal-aid organizations, and external search tools. Selecting one leaves this website, and the destination site's privacy policy then controls the visit. Review it before sharing personal information.

Some advertising partners can track activity across websites in order to deliver targeted advertising. That tracking occurs on their systems, not ours.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal data. Information may nevertheless be disclosed to:

  • Advertising networks that place advertisements on our pages
  • Analytics services used to measure traffic and performance
  • Search partners that process queries made through site tools
  • Law-enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires disclosure

How We Protect Your Data

We use ordinary security practices intended to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee that a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18. If we learn that a minor has supplied personal information, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may give a visitor rights regarding personal data. For Newton County public records, Miss. Code § 25-61-5 addresses access procedures and Miss. Code § 25-61-7 addresses copy fees. Court-file access is instead subject to the Mississippi Electronic Court System Administrative Procedures and court-specific rules: PAMEC provides registered, read-only remote access for participating courts, while public electronic access at a clerk's office is free during regular hours subject to restrictions and copy charges. At a minimum, you can:

  • Request a copy of personal information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information
  • Ask that your data be deleted
  • Choose to opt out of certain processing activities

Updates to This Policy

We may revise this policy in the future. A revised version will be posted here with an updated effective date, so revisit this page for the current practices.

Effective date: August 28, 2026
