Terms of Use

These terms govern use of this website. Visiting its pages, reading its material, or using a search feature constitutes agreement to the conditions below. Do not continue to use the site if you do not accept them.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website is not affiliated with a local, Mississippi, or federal government body or court. Neither it nor its advertising partners supplies a service for credit checks, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant evaluation, or another use regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The site provides general Newton County court-docket and record-routing information. It is not a private investigation firm or a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site operating independently of a court or government office. It does not store official dockets or court records, retrieve a docket for a visitor, change a court date, or file documents.

Its role is to identify likely custodians for Newton County records: Michael L. Butler, Newton County Circuit Clerk; Chrissie Buffington, Newton County Chancery Clerk; the appropriate Justice Court or municipal clerk; and, for participating electronic courts, Mississippi Electronic Courts (MEC) and PAMEC. It may also link to third-party tools that can assist research.

2. Informational Use Only

All material is general information. It describes how Newton County court dockets and case records may be routed, but it is not an official docket, a court order, or legal advice. Use it as a starting point and confirm any material detail with the clerk or court that keeps the case.

3. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Mississippi, or local law
  • Use material from the site to stalk, threaten, or harass another person
  • Make a hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decision from site content
  • Attempt to enter systems or obtain access that has not been authorized
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or other automated tools against the pages
  • Interfere with access to the site or degrade its operation for other users

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports. Neither this site nor its advertising partners offers services designed to screen job applicants, evaluate rental applications, set insurance rates, or assess creditworthiness. You agree not to use information from this site or a linked tool to:

  • Make another FCRA-regulated decision
  • Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or government program
  • Set insurance premiums or assess creditworthiness
  • Screen a prospective renter or housing applicant
  • Decide whether to hire or terminate someone

A background check for any such purpose must be obtained through an FCRA-compliant screening company.

5. No Legal Advice

Nothing on this website is legal advice. It cannot determine how a Newton County case, charge, order, or deadline applies to a particular situation. For legal advice, consult a licensed Mississippi attorney.

6. Accuracy Is Not Guaranteed

All material is supplied "as is." We make no guarantee that:

  • Partner search results will be complete or accurate
  • The pages have no errors, bugs, or security flaws
  • The website will remain available without interruption
  • Information is accurate, complete, or current at a particular time

Dockets can change when a filing occurs, a hearing is set or moved, or a matter is sealed, dismissed, or amended. Gaps are unavoidable, and no page here is an official statement by a court or clerk. Confirm a docket entry or setting with the court that holds the case before relying on it.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

This site can link to clerk pages, court portals, MEC or PAMEC resources, legal-aid organizations, and outside search services. A selected link leads to a website we do not control. We are not responsible for its content, data handling, fees, or availability; review that site's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on this website belong to Newton County Court Docket or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, modified, or used to make derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of this website, including decisions based on information found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or legal actions arising from your use of this website or violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Mississippi law governs these terms, and a dispute arising from use of this website must be filed in a court located in Mississippi. The site's court-record guidance also recognizes Miss. Code §§ 25-61-5 and 25-61-7 for public-record access and copy fees, while court-file access follows the Mississippi Electronic Court System Administrative Procedures and applicable court rules.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. Revised terms become effective when posted on this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you look up a case or docket for me?

No. This private reference site has no access to the official docketing system. Use the case search guide to begin with the court and case number, then use PAMEC for a participating court or the clerk that maintains the case.

Can you change or confirm my court date?

No. Only the court can set, reset, or confirm a hearing. The court calendar provides context, but the responsible clerk or court must verify any date.

Is a docket entry on a linked tool official?

No. A linked tool can be incomplete or out of date. The official record remains with the clerk or court that holds the case.

Where do I ask a question about these terms?

These terms state the conditions for use of this reference site. Questions about a Newton County court record, fee, or procedure must be directed to the clerk or court that has custody of that item.
